With escalating storage requirements placed on businesses, using traditional file server environments to add data storage greatly increase management burdens, data exposure and impacts performance and availability. However in order to comply with regulations, administrators do not want to risk data integrity problems, disaster recovery issues or performance bottlenecks.
As a result a new approach is required to dramatically simplify network storage management and drive dramatic improvements in capacity, performance and tiered storage management. A related concern is how end user access is managed. Virtualization can be a key building block for utility computing, storage grid strategies and information lifecycle management and is key to managing today's demanding file storage requirements.
